NOW SCHEDULING AUDITION APPOINTMENTS!

Hello from the Board of Directors and Musical Faculty of the Greater Waterbury Youth Symphony!  We hope everyone has had a happy and healthy summer.  The Board of Directors and Musical faculty met this past month to finalize all of the details of the upcoming season. We are all very excited and it appears that everything is in place a great start for 2004/2005.

We are now taking appointments for auditions, which will be held at Kennedy High School on Thursday, September 16^th, and Saturday, September 18^th, 2004.  Wednesdays’ appointment times will be from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m.  Saturdays’ appointment times will be from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.   We are very pleased to return to Kennedy High School, which has been our home for the past 34 years. 

Just like last year, we will schedule auditions in ½ hour time slots.  5 musicians will be scheduled for each slot. You need only arrive with time to fill in registration forms, set-up and warm-up prior to your audition time, at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment..

The purpose of this letter is to offer our returning members an opportunity to better access this necessary process.  Please remember:

Ø      Each musician needs to have all details of the Audition Requirements prepared, although they may only play a portion of them.

Nancy Waiculonis has volunteered to schedule these appointments.  If you would like to make an appointment for your child’s audition during the advertised hours, please call her, 860-945-3487 after 7 pm, prior to the 9/16 & 9/18 audition dates.  The Waiculonis’ have an answering machine, so leave your name & number if she is not home and she will return your call.

If you are aware of a new musician joining GWYS, you may share this process with them and they can call for an appointment.  If you do not get a chance to call, come to the auditions and sign up then.  You can either wait for an available time or sign up for a later time and come back 15 minutes prior for registration & warm-ups.  Those not making an appointment or walk-ins will be fit in as time allows. 

We hope this process will assist in your planning.  Please encourage your children that they need to have all of the requirements prepared for their audition, but may only play a portion of them.  There will be a registration packet waiting for you at auditions with lots of new and updated information. You may review it ahead of time by visiting our website @ www.gwys.org.
